Job Description

Communications and Community Affairs Specialist

**Location:** Squamish, BC, Canada **Employment Type:** Full Time **Department:** Human Resources **Experience:** Experienced

**Core Responsibilities** The Communications and Community Affairs Specialist (CCAS) reports to the Manager, Human Resources, and supports the Manager, Marketing and Communications across public relations, stakeholder engagement, and local media activities aimed at strengthening the positioning of the Carbon Engineering (CE) brand. Key responsibilities include communicating with local stakeholders, organizing events, evaluating partnership opportunities, and creating programs beneficial to the community. The CCAS will be based in Squamish, BC, working on-site at least three days a week and traveling as needed.

**Research and Engagement**

  • Researching, anticipating, and evaluating emerging trends within the Squamish community and surrounding areas
  • Coordinating public consultation and engagement efforts
  • Engaging with stakeholders including First Nations, Municipal Council, and local organizations
  • Supporting media coverage of CE's initiatives and maintaining essential support materials
  • Coordinating press events, interviews, and on-site activities

**Technical Skills**

  • Developing knowledge of Direct Air Capture and CE's technology
  • Drafting compelling materials for various audiences
  • Building relationships with media, stakeholders, and industry influencers
  • Supporting crisis communication activities

**Education and Experience**

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field
  • 8-15 years of experience in Community Relations and Communications in cleantech, climate, or energy industries
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Established relationships with media outlets and industry contacts
  • Experience in crisis management and issue resolution

**Compensation:** $67,320 to $102,000 Base Salary
