Role Information:

Magna Steyr Italy is looking for a mechanical designer to work within a multidisciplinary team to develop new projects related to battery packs for electric vehicles. Your main responsibilities will include developing the system structure, working closely with suppliers and the mechanical development team. You will also collaborate with the project's System Engineer to provide support in creating DFMEA, DVP, requirements management, and BOM.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete definition of 3D models respecting component feasibility from both geometric and technological perspectives
  • Ensure compliance with project-defined completion times in agreement with Project Timing
  • Ensure correct integration of electrical, thermal, BIW, gaskets, NVH, fastening, exhaust valves, etc.
  • Interface between integration team leaders and suppliers/customers
  • Verify 2D drawings and alignment tolerances with the Magna Tolerance Management team
  • Manage mechanical changes and deviations
  • Organize and conduct design meetings with customers, suppliers, and other Magna project teams
  • Meet the requirements of torque, flexion, and passive safety during design
  • Ensure fastening elements, simulation alignments, surface pressing alignment, static torque test alignment, and bolt selection
  • Support the creation of the mechanical system FMEA
  • Manage data exchange between Supplier and Magna

Requirements:

  • Diploma in mechanical engineering or technical-scientific field
  • Preferred degree in vehicle engineering or industrial design
  • 3-4 years of experience as a CAD 3D CATIA V5 designer
  • Previous experience in HV battery pack development is a plus
  • Excellent mechanical knowledge in the automotive field, desirable in the electric field
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of vehicle development process
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Good written and spoken English skills
  • Willingness to travel and work in Italy, EU, and rest of the world
