Carbon Project Manager South East Asia

Climate Impact Partners

Climate Impact Partners, a leading provider of high-quality carbon credit programs, is seeking a Southeast Asia Project Manager to join our Carbon Project Delivery team. The role involves responsibility for the successful delivery of our Southeast Asia carbon projects under recognized voluntary carbon standards. Climate Impact Partners make and manage long-term investments in development projects in return for verified emissions reductions (VERs). We collaborate closely with project development partners who are implementing project activities on the ground, bringing our expertise and oversight to ensure that projects are designed, set up, and managed to deliver the expected volume of high-integrity VERs and other impacts. The projects mainly focus on nature-based solutions projects in emerging markets, with project partners ranging from local NGOs to private companies that have executed at least one carbon project.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Manage long-term contracts with project implementation partners ensuring projects deliver committed carbon and other benefits on time, with quality, and within budget.
  • Onboard new development projects into portfolio once contracted, ensuring proper handover with the Origination team.
  • Become a subject matter expert in all project contracts, improving framework for contract compliance and risk management.
  • Document regular meetings with the project partner to accurately track progress against the project plan and budget.
  • Assess the outlook against plan, establish leading indicators to highlight deviations, identify risks and issues, and develop remedial plans.
  • Lead contract amendment negotiations with project partners as needed.
  • Ensure project implementation and monitoring are in line with project design and leading carbon standards.
  • Support payment validation, maintain good relationships with partners, and position the Climate Impact Partners for future opportunities.
  • Visit project sites in portfolio annually, ensure compliance with monitoring protocols, and provide timely and accurate reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in project management.
  • Understanding of carbon projects and voluntary carbon standards.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
