Program Manager Equity Environmental Justice

Role and Scope of Position

The Program Manager of Equity and Environmental Justice (EEJ) works with the EEJ Director in managing Eversource's commitment to and support of equity and environmental justice actions and communications across the company's service territory and its business units consistent with equity guidelines developed by Eversource's Pro Equity Advisory Team (PEAT) Including Environmental Affairs, Licensing, Permitting, Transmission, and other Corporate Relations areas. The role involves developing and maintaining effective external relationships with organizations, individuals, universities, environmental advocates, equity and environmental justice groups, and acting as a liaison to ensure that priorities and inputs from key stakeholders are communicated and considered in decision-making processes to establish equitable relationships with Eversource's customers and key constituents.

Essential Functions

  • Working with business partners to enhance connections with key groups and coalitions and assisting business areas in identifying processes, resources, and other steps needed to further integrate equity priorities.
  • Developing strategies with business units to leverage the company's equity and environmental justice program to influence positive outcomes in project siting, permitting, approvals matters, and procedures.
  • Supporting the development of a Customer Equity training and education program.
  • Advocating for inclusive business practices internally and externally through modeling key behaviors to establish equitable ways of working.
  • Participating in relevant committees to communicate equity leadership and initiatives.

Technical Knowledge, Skills, Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • Working familiarity with environmental issues, diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as community engagement.
  • Meaningful work experience in efforts on behalf of overburdened communities to combat systemic racism in the environmental sector.
  • Proven organizational skills, excellent communication, public speaking, strong writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs such as Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, Sociology, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) or more years coordinating and administering programs. Project management experience is a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Working Conditions

  • Availability for emergency restoration assignments as required.
  • Travel between MA, CT, NH as necessary.
  • Combination of office and fieldwork, including evenings and/or weekends.
  • 50% or more of the time spent outside of the office.
  • Willingness to use personal vehicle.

  • Ability to work diplomatically with all levels of management, external stakeholders, and partners.
  • Strong multitasking skills and adherence to strict schedules and deadlines.

Salary and Benefits

  • Competitive total rewards program.
  • Annual salary range for this position is $92,000 - $104,000/year plus incentive.
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
