Job Description

Piping Engineer

**Piping Engineer**

Are you experienced in the design and analysis of piping systems within complex engineering projects? Are you skilled in resolving potential issues related to piping layout and design? Are you familiar with industry standards and regulations governing piping design and installation? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as our next Piping Engineer here at Hinkley Point C.

**The Opportunity**

As our next Piping Engineer, you'll take on the pivotal role in answering and responding to design modifications raised by site contractors, ensuring they align with the designer's justifications. You'll play an essential role in bridging the gap between construction contractors and designers, ensuring seamless collaboration. Within NNB's Technical Directorate, you'll thrive in a vibrant and inclusive workplace, working closely with the Construction Team on site every day.

**Pay, benefits, and culture**

In addition to a salary range of £52,500 - £60,000, depending on experience, we offer flexible benefits that support our employees' physical, emotional, and financial well-being. Examples include a market-leading company pension scheme, a bonus plan, health cover, electric vehicle leasing, mental health support, and employee discounts. At EDF, everyone is welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and feels confident in being themselves.

**What you will be doing**

In this crucial role, you'll offer support when an issue arises on site with construction and installation and be part of a team that takes action to address them promptly. This role involves answering and resolving queries for non-conformance design changes and exemption requests, which require categorization based on their nuclear and environmental impact. You will critically assess the feasibility of challenging design decisions to ensure they align with project strategies, collaborating closely with the technical team to find effective solutions.

**Who you are**

Although a degree in a relevant subject matter would be advantageous, it is not essential. We are looking for you to hold the following skills and experiences to complete this role:

  • Proficient in piping and support design installation and commissioning
  • Demonstrated application of multidisciplinary technical expertise in the nuclear industry
  • Familiarity with the construction and installation sector
  • Understanding of Health Safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements
  • Experienced in welding engineering principles
  • Skilled in influencing diverse stakeholders, especially in a site environment
  • Capable of working autonomously, taking proactive measures and reporting or escalating pertinent issues

Applications for this role close Tuesday, 7th May. Join us, and together we can help Britain achieve Net Zero.
