**Description:** BWXT’s Nuclear Operations Group, Lynchburg, is currently seeking a TRISO Fuels Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location. **Essential Functions/Responsibilities:**

  • Provides engineering support for the fabrication of Uranium Based Fuels both metallic and ceramic for commercial applications such as Next Generation Nuclear Power TRISO Fuel.
  • Participates in the troubleshooting of issues arising in existing equipment and assists with the deployment of new equipment.
  • Supports production operations as the technical lead and subject matter expert for the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Supports shop floor operations and resolution of fabrication issues.
  • Generates process improvement ideas.
  • Prepares Operating Procedures and Electronic Shop Floor Routings.
  • Assists in the development of equipment designs and fabrication methods to successfully fabricate Uranium Based Fuels.
  • Creates training plans for shop floor personnel and participates in the training activities.
  • Follows BWXT established change management and Safety Evaluation processes.
  • Evaluates process data to determine efficiencies and consistency of process.
  • Makes recommended modifications and improvements based upon data evaluation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

**Required Qualifications:**

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of engineering experience.
  • Previous experience with design, refurbishment, and/or deployment of ceramic powder manufacturing equipment.
  • Superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent experience in authoring technical reports.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven ability in leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • U.S. Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Background in Sol-Gel processing, CVD, PVD coating, fluid-bed treatment, and/or nuclear chemistry processing for Next Generation Nuclear Fuels (e.g., TRISO).
  • Knowledge of Uranium Based Fuel Processing in the preparation of TRISO fuels.

**Pay:**

  • $92,000 - $142,000

*Note: The base salary range for this position in Virginia, US (VA) at the start of employment is between $92,000 and $142,000 per year.*

**Benefits:**

  • Total compensation package may include an annual cash incentive, medical benefits, retirement plans, and other benefits. Details will be provided upon offer of employment.
