Description: Boston Government Services is seeking an Analyst Solar Energy Soft Costs to support reduction of soft costs associated with solar energy – non-hardware costs including permitting, interconnection, siting, and data modeling, etc. Relevant areas of expertise include modeling, data analysis, energy generation, interconnection, environmental science, energy markets, regulation, solar energy deployment, building energy codes, or related areas.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of new funding opportunities, technical assistance programs, and other funding mechanisms that can reduce solar soft costs and enable more equitable deployment of solar energy.
  • Research to inform new programs, expert assessment of applications, and implementation of required federal procedures.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects and/or programs to reduce solar soft costs and enable more equitable deployment of solar energy.
  • Provide technical guidance to awardees and expert assessment of project/program progress.
  • Support outreach and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Participate in conferences, webinars, and other events to stay current on solar stakeholder needs.
  • Prepare communication materials for various stakeholder audiences.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Physics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental or Public Policy, or related fields of study.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in addressing solar soft costs and barriers to solar energy deployment.
  • Solar energy industry policy or research experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and experience in data analysis and modeling.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills on technical subjects.
  • Ability to manage a dynamic portfolio of projects/programs.
  • Must be a US citizen and willing to work onsite in the Washington DC office.
  • Successful drug screening required.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Physics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental or Public Policy, or related fields of study.
