Your Role

The Formula E Brand team is responsible for growing and managing the Formula E brand to drive value for our fans and eco-system of teams, partners, broadcasters, promoters and cities. Fans experience the brand across a variety of touchpoints from race events (fan-facing and hospitality) to live broadcast, marketing campaigns, social media, digital channels, merchandise and much more. Alongside the sport itself, the brand has evolved in recent years with a refreshed visual and sonic identity, including deeper guidelines and more efficient processes to ensure Formula E and external partners are executing to the highest possible standards.

Working into the Brand Director, the Formula E Senior Brand Manager is responsible for helping build the brand and developing the processes for using it, alongside managing key brand projects and requests from across the business.

Key Deliverables

  • Support Brand Director and CMO in development of world-class brand expression, identity system and creation of brand tools for business & eco-system (brand hub, guidelines)
  • Ensure best practice implementation of brand strategy and assets, collaborating with owners of key fan-facing and eco-system channels
  • Build and maintain brand platforms, ensuring they’re up to date and addressing business needs
  • Provide brand governance across content produced by external stakeholders (e.g. partners, promoters, broadcasters)

Duties & Responsibilities:

Development of Brand Expression and Identity System

  • Support Brand Director in maintaining ecosystem-wide relevance for brand positioning, tone of voice, brand principles etc.
  • Collaborate with Design Studio to develop brand assets and codified visual system informed by strategy & insights, built for purpose across touchpoints and executed to highest standard
  • Maintain and evolve key messaging overview for all teams to use across channels and races throughout the season.
  • Work with Design teams to build guidelines and system for messaging within Event Branding

Ensure Best Practice Implementation of Brand Strategy

  • Serve as internal go-to for development of bespoke branded assets or content
  • Help lead internal working group on fan event experience developing a clear season-wide strategy, delivering against broader brand and business strategies.
  • Source, brief and manage vendors in production of branded assets and content as part of visual or sonic brand identity
  • Alongside Design and Broadcast teams, lead the capturing of driver photography ahead of each season. Developing a brief for art direction and deliverables, sourcing photographers, attending the shoot, managing post-production with relevant vendors and approvals with Formula E Team Partnership Account Managers
  • Work with event experience teams and external agencies to ensure best execution of race-by-race fan activations
  • Working with external design agency, lead on development of new race and championship trophies and mascots, building a new set more closely link to new brand identity
  • Support Hospitality team in development of seasonal brand identity and strategy for Hospitality products. Develop creative brief and manage creative development of visual identity across digital collateral and venue branding alongside Design
  • Support Social & Digital teams plus relevant agencies in development of bespoke visual and messaging brand guidelines for social media platforms, Formula E website and app.
  • Support Broadcast team in develop of bespoke visual and messaging brand guidelines for Formula E broadcast programming (live and non-live).
  • Support Commercial & Sales teams in the development of new and refreshed rights packages for new partners integrating across Formula E products and channels
  • Work with Design to develop mock-ups and pitch collateral to bring commercial opportunities to life to support new sales activity
  • Support Marketing teams in development of visual system for ticketing sales campaign linked to broader brand identity
  • Provide governance over activations and marketing content developed for local race marketing campaigns by local marketing agencies
  • Lead and manage development and execution of key strategic brand projects

Provide Eco-System Wide Brand Governance

  • Drive adoption of Formula E Brand across eco-system of teams, partners, promoters. Supporting Brand Director in communicating key business updates and creating forums for feedback.
  • Provide Brand input and governance to wider business projects
  • Manage approvals of creative and branded assets from internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain efficient asset approval platform with Tech and Partnerships team

What We Are Looking For:

Experience Required:

  • Experience in building a brand and it’s components to help deliver against a defined business strategy, objectives and KPIs
  • Experience in developing and implementing best-practice operational processes (briefing, creative development, approvals) to drive efficiency and improve creative output
  • Experience in an in-house or advertising/marketing agency role managing creative teams and/or clients
  • Experienced in financial stewardship with a range of budgets

Skills and Aptitudes Required:

  • High attention to detail in governing use of brand
  • Confident in developing strong creative briefs
  • Able to provide strategic, critical analysis when reviewing creative work
  • Understanding of best-practice processes for brand governance, reviews and approvals

Personal Qualities Required:

  • A reliable, proactive leader
  • Able to facilitate collaboration and deliver in fast-paced, pressured environment
  • Comfortable engaging stakeholders in pushing for a consistently high standard across all touch points
  • Confident in managing complex web of stakeholders and internal/external ‘clients’
  • Willing to travel to and around races multiple times per year as may be required by FE
