Job Description

Trina Solar, a global leading solar energy company, in order to widen its presence in LATAM, and to cement our operations in Colombia, we are seeking a talented Legal Counsel to assist our growth process.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for in-house legal matters for both our Tracker and Module Business Unit. Other associated day-to-day responsibilities may include: drafting agreements, addressing compliance issues, and participating in negotiation discussions. In order to succeed, this candidate should feel comfortable working with in-house and outside counsel on a variety of legal matters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with local partners in order to identify and resolve issues and risks, provide practical advice, and ensure efficient and effective completion of agreements and projects.
  • Manage labor and tax compliance by staying up to date with in-country developments.
  • Ensure that all legal documentation accurately reflects business objectives and are in compliance with all laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the contracting function, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of agreements (e.g., Module Sales Agreements, MSAs, various vendor agreements, distribution, consulting, marketing agreements, labor contracts, tax filings) etc.
  • The candidate will act as a proactive business partner while protecting the Company's interests by identifying and managing regulatory and other legal risks as well as providing timely, accurate, and effective legal and commercial advice.
  • Support the Head of Legal in augmenting the in-house legal function to manage all legal affairs.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualified Lawyer in Colombia.
  • Experience in corporate, litigation, tax, and labor compliance in Colombia is preferred, as well as general legal contractual knowledge centered around international sales agreements.
  • 3 to 5 years of work experience, preferably with international in-house experience and/or a reputable law firm. Experience in in the Renewable Energy field is a Plus.
  • LL.M. (Magister) from a top-tier University in Colombia or abroad is a Plus.
  • Strong negotiating and communication skills.
  • Hands-on and solution oriented.
  • Exceptional written and oral English communication skills are a must for this position. Any other language is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, diligent and detail oriented.
  • Readiness to travel mainly within Colombia and possibly abroad.
  • Skilled at providing high-quality, timely, and practical legal advice and risk assessments.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively drive issues to resolution within a team environment focused on growth, execution, and process improvement.
  • Detail-oriented self-starter who enjoys taking the initiative to drive projects and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized and flexible with diverse work assignments and the ability to manage shifting priorities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
