Job Description

The Field Application Scientist provides scientific expertise through application presentations, product demonstrations, application training, and troubleshooting of Environmental instrumentation portfolio. Helps drive sales and provides support for new and existing customers, guides customers through different phases of the sales process including pre-sales technical and application support for the Sales team. This includes customer requirements analysis, sample analysis, and/or feature by feature customer demonstrations, preparation and communication of technical presentations and seminars to potential customers, benchmarks, product positioning, and implementation execution of solution application. As part of the Greater China team, the Field Application Scientist partners with Sales, Marketing, Business development, and the Service team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre and post-sales technical support, application assistance, installations, demonstrations, guidance, troubleshooting
  • Sales marketing support and consultation in response to customer inquiries both internal external including on-site visits
  • Present products and technical papers at scientific conferences and tradeshows
  • Build and deliver presentations for various customer activities
  • Responsible for developing new applications for a wide range of products and markets, writing Application Notes and Technical Notes
  • Publish scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals
  • Understand customer's problems, recommend solutions to meet their needs, and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Build trust with customers and excel in customer service
  • Deliver on-site and remote application and training support
  • Maintain and disseminate updated technical information for specific applications/workflows to commercial team and customers
  • Diagnose, resolve product performance problems, and customer complaints
  • Combine conceptual and analytical knowledge to independently address difficult problems
  • Maintain up-to-date technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of product portfolio and application developments
  • Work with Sales Representatives on sales calls and provide technical and applications assistance
  • Support Sales materials including Sales training, application notes, and technical presentations
  • Participate in application development to support business development and Key Account development activities
  • Work closely with the Sales team, marketing, product management team, R&D, service customers, and potential collaborations to drive business development
  • Capable of bridging customer needs and broader market trends translating into solution requirements and high-impact strategies and initiatives
  • Strong engagement with customers and teams across the organization
  • Influence R&D roadmap and New Product Introduction (NPI) strategy based on customer's technical needs, global market and competitive dynamics, and regional specific variations
  • Develop application validation and testing new hardware/software peripherals to support NPI projects

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in botany, ecology, environmental science, meteorology, forestry, geology, agronomy, hydrology, or chemistry; Ph.D. preferred
  • Customer-facing experience, understand customer concerns
  • Able to support customers with varying levels of technical knowledge and experience
  • Good oral/written communication skills
  • English communications in both oral and written
  • Proven track record in technical project management
  • Positive demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a highly collaborative fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, hardworking, open-minded, and detail-oriented; flexibility to perform under pressure
  • Ability to take projects from strategy through to execution with high attention to detail coupled with innovative thinking
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks while ensuring timely and accurate completion
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% domestic and international

Salary

Your base salary and title will be determined based on the location experience qualification skills and knowledge level and pay of other employees in similar positions
