Summary of Role

The Director of Business Systems leads the vision, strategy, and tactical evolution of Palmetto’s enterprise applications and systems of record, namely Salesforce (CRM) and Netsuite (ERP). This role will combine extensive knowledge of Salesforce and Netsuite best practices with a deep understanding of Palmetto’s product and business vision to develop and implement an overarching enterprise architecture built for scale. The Director of Business Systems will balance competing business needs, platform optimizations, and team workloads as well as manage programs, projects, and relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Palmetto’s foundational enterprise applications adequately enable the business. This role reports to the Chief Product Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evolve current Salesforce and Netsuite architecture to ensure it is optimized to support key front and back office business, security, data, and risk requirements. Drive full and optimal utilization of ERP and CRM system capabilities and functionality
  • Own the development roadmap for Salesforce and Netsuite and related systems, ensuring all investments are closely aligned with customer and business value, and the broader company plan and product roadmap.
  • Work with cross-functional business teams - especially accounting, finance, supply chain, sales, marketing and product - to understand their priorities, communicate statuses and operate as the Salesforce and Netsuite SME for all business needs.
  • Manage multiple configuration, customization, conversion and implementation efforts. This includes developing detailed technical specifications and process flows, and managing internal and external project teams.
  • Establish and enforce formalized policies and procedures related to ERP and CRM systems access and change management to satisfy Sarbanes Oxley, consumer protection, and IT General Control requirements.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including vetting, budgets, purchase decisions and scope of work
  • Lead a team of high performing internal staff and contractors. Build a strong team culture in line with Palmetto’s values. Be a champion of Salesforce and Netsuite across the organization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance or a similar discipline
  • 10+ years experience leading ERP and CRM teams in a high growth environment
  • 5+ years of ERP and/or CRM system implementations experience, helping companies through all phases of an implementation
  • NetSuite Administrator certification or equivalent experience; 5+ years of direct NetSuite implementation, upgrade, and support experience. In depth knowledge of NetSuite cloud platform, integration capabilities, data migration conversion tools. Experience working with NetSuite workflows (SuiteFlow), NetSuite integration products (e.g. Celigo), and commonly integrated platforms like Stripe, Salesforce, Concur, etc. Strong knowledge of key financial processes such as Quote to Cash, Procure to Pay, Record to Report, etc
  • Salesforce advanced administrator certifications or equivalent experience; Expert level understanding of Salesforce security controls including roles, profiles, OWD, sharing settings and the ability to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities; Strong understanding of common go to market funnels and related marketing and sales stages
  • Strong project management and documentation capabilities; Experience leading requirements gathering, build-measure-learn loops, development releases and managing sprints.
  • Advanced in system architecture, object-oriented design, web frameworks and patterns
  • Ability to quickly understand and decompose financial, business, and technical concepts; Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong understanding of data integration (inbound and outbound); Deep knowledge of and experience with the Salesforce and Netsuite partner and plug-in ecosystems
  • Highly organized, articulate and communicative leader comfortable working with all levels of business stakeholders across the user base, including executive leadership team members
  • Self motivated with ability to juggle and balance busy, demanding, and ever changing requirements of an exciting and fast growing energy marketplace business
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building
