Job Description

What The Role Is

The Tax Manager—Planning will support the Company’s renewable energy project transactions and mergers and acquisition activity. The Tax Manager will perform tax research and planning, document tax analysis and supporting information for transactions, and prepare and review financial models. The Tax Manager will assist with tax compliance, particularly with respect to supporting renewable tax credits, transaction activity, tax carryforwards, investor capital account calculations, and other matters. The Tax Manager will also have the opportunity to assist with identifying and implementing tax process and technology improvements for the Company.

The Tax Manager will work with other members of the tax team as well as cross-functionally with accounting, business development, finance, and other functions to support the tax reporting and planning processes. The Tax Manager will also have significant contact with the highest senior leadership levels.

An in-office hybrid work model in Princeton, NJ is preferred. Will consider remote for the ideal candidate.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Review tax inputs in financial models and prepare various tax models for renewable energy project transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and planning purposes.
  • Preparation of summary tax memos for complex tax issues and for closed transactions.
  • Manage documentation of information supporting tax benefits and tax credits from transactions, coordinating with other groups outside of tax to prepare and preserve necessary information.
  • Support documentation and negotiation of renewable project transactions and M&A activity
  • Research and communicate the implications of tax law changes.
  • Assist with tax research, tax planning, and analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of cash tax forecast.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for tax process improvement.
  • Support the adoption and implementation of tax technology.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Tax or Accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years of tax experience in either public or corporate positions.
  • Minimum 5 years of Partnership (Sub K) tax experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of Mergers and Acquisitions tax experience in the partnership space.
  • Experience with complex transactions and tax planning.
  • Effectively handle and prioritize multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative working relationships across the organization.
  • Experience with tax-based research tools.
  • Proficient in Excel.

What Would Be Nice

  • Master’s Degree in Tax or Accounting.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Renewable energy experience a plus.
  • Experience with tax technology adoption and process improvement.
  • Experience with SAP and OTP.

Clearway will not sponsor nonimmigrant visas for this position (H-1B, TN, E-3, etc.).

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.
