**Description** The Flex API team is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, implement, optimize, and directly contribute to the core API functionality of our high-scale global SaaS product.

**Responsibilities and Duties**

  • Work with team and directly contribute to the Flex Predictive Controls Platform code, designing, writing, and maintaining APIs, components, microservices, test cases, automated test frameworks, and other code as needed
  • Analyze use cases and convert functional requirements into scalable design and concrete technical tasks, and be able to provide consistent and reasonable effort estimates on an ongoing basis
  • Work proactively and independently while collaborating with global teams to address technical project requirements, identify risks, and deliver high-quality solutions
  • Review code individually and lead group code review discussions, mentor team members on technical topics, understand use cases, develop test cases, and confirm production code developed meets strict quality standards
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to explain complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences, highlighting pros/cons, estimated timelines, and risks associated for prioritization, decision-making, and risk mitigation

**Qualifications and Skills**

  • 5+ yrs development experience building web applications & APIs using either Golang, Ruby, Python
  • 5+ yrs building and designing REST APIs for high-scale applications using OOP
  • Expert at designing microservices with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Expert at building and maintaining very high-scale, high-performance production B2B services and applications
  • Expert in data structures and algorithms using relational databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL
  • Excellent with UI frameworks like Angular or ReactJS
  • Experience in High-Performance Computing and active experience working in cloud environments (AWS and/or MS Azure)
  • Experience with SOA, Event-Driven Architecture, Linux development and runtime environments
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM methodology for product development and proven ability to work in a small, highly dynamic team within Agile/SAFe framework
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Working knowledge of Apache Spark
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment with evolving project requirements in a highly regulated industry

**Education and Requirements**

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent technical degree (Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, etc.)
  • 5+ years at any leading SaaS firm, startup firm, or energy product/software firm

**Bonus Points**

  • Experience with the energy industry and/or working with high-scale distributed IoT devices
  • Certifications in SCADA, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, and/or Agile process
