Boundless Impact Research and Analytics

Boundless is seeking a fractional CTO (2 days/week) to be a strategic and pragmatic leader for our organization. This role involves collaborating closely with the leadership team, key Product and Data stakeholders, and cross-functional stakeholders both within the company and externally. The Fractional CTO will help bring clarity within a complex existing tech stack and build simple yet scalable foundations to support our key B2B and data platform products. Responsibilities include providing technical direction and product decisions for platform development, as well as building and managing an external technology team. This early stage leadership hire offers significant growth and impact in the environmental data and analytics space.

Boundless is an industry research and environmental impact analytics firm that provides objective and actionable information to move investment dollars toward clean technologies and climate solutions. Our approach is science-based and data-driven, rooted in the proven methodology of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). We perform rapid and screening LCAs consistent with ISO 14040, and develop environmental impact analytics for investors, companies, and institutions.

Responsibilities

The fractional CTO must take over a complex tech stack, consolidate and simplify technologies, and direct the development of new software platforms and SaaS products. Key responsibilities include:

• Articulating a clear vision and co-developing the technical strategy with Leadership and Product
• Developing, managing, and executing a technical product roadmap
• Evaluating and consolidating the existing tech stack towards a centralized backend
• Leading the evaluation and deployment of new technologies, including Machine Learning integration
• Delivering minimum viable products to market rapidly
• Auditing and managing infrastructure needs and development
• Building a technology team and implementing efficient processes

Qualifications Skills

• 7+ years of corporate data engineering and analytics experience
• Previous experience scaling up data and analytics platforms
• Deep experience with SQL, NoSQL technologies, data analysis, NLP, BI tools, and web analytics platforms
• Expertise in scaling up new data and analytics products
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence technical discussions
• Entrepreneurial mindset and passion for values-based investing and technology
