**Description** **Research Associate - Electric Sector Modeling and Policy Analysis**
**Position Overview** Resources for the Future (RFF) is an independent nonprofit research institution in Washington DC. Our mission is to improve environmental, energy, and natural resource decisions through impartial economic research and policy engagement. RFF is hiring one or more Research Associates to develop, maintain, modify, and apply electricity sector simulation models, analyze and present the results, co-author reports and papers, and manage important aspects of these activities. Research Associates play central roles in modeling and analyzing the effects of potential policies and infrastructure investments that impact climate change, air quality, energy costs, energy reliability, and more.
**Responsibilities**
- Apply and further develop RFF's electricity sector simulation models
- Collaborate with senior staff to maintain and enhance models
- Analyze and interpret model outputs
- Participate in analysis and writing for journal papers, reports, and presentations
- Collaborate with team members and potentially train new members
- Assist with proposal writing
**Qualifications**
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in economics, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or related fields
- 2-4 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in software development
- General programming skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Strong communication skills
