Project Controls, Cost Estimator

**Job Title:** Project Controls Cost Estimator **Location:** Zurich, Switzerland

**Job Description:** The Project Controls Cost Estimator at Climeworks will be responsible for cost estimation of their EPC projects as part of the project management team. They will own all Climeworks CAPEX cost estimates, both externally and internally, across multiple geographies. The Cost Estimator will develop, own, and continuously improve cost estimation models, databases, and tools to ensure accuracy and standardization of estimating processes. They will provide cost estimation support for project development and product development teams.

Additionally, the Cost Estimator will bring industry knowledge of estimating industrial facilities to Climeworks and adapt it to develop fit-for-purpose estimating tools for the direct air capture industry. They will work in close collaboration with engineering teams to determine and optimize cost drivers in DAC Plants. They will also perform MTO (Material Take-Offs) and QTOs (Quantity Take-Offs) from engineering drawings to develop estimates. The Cost Estimator will analyze historical data with procurement and build the DAC estimating database from As-Built projects. They will provide cost estimation support for the procurement team during the competitive bid process.

The Cost Estimator must be well-organized and capable of building sustainable tools for ongoing use by the Climeworks project controls organization. They will be expected to present and defend cost estimates to the executive team and work closely with project cost controllers, providing mentorship on financial risk and contingency use.

**Requirements:**

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or Construction Management
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, cost control, and/or cost estimation
• Experience using industry cost estimation tools beyond Microsoft Excel spreadsheets (e.g., Aspen Capital Cost Estimator, RSMeans, Cleopatra, etc.)
• Knowledge and understanding of costs in existing and emergent markets, preferably in both Europe and the United States
• Experience in industrial gas facilities, petrochemical plants, or oil and gas is preferred
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, with physical presence expected in the office or on site
