**Your Opportunity** As an Urban Planner within our Community Development team based in our Edmonton Office, you will have the opportunity to work on projects in the private and public sectors such as new neighbourhood plans, Area Structure Plans, rezonings, subdivisions, and public engagement. We work on projects in both greenfield and infill settings. Our highly experienced multi-disciplinary team specializes in urban design, integration of architecture, street design, public space design, and sustainability with urban planning, bicycle, and pedestrian-oriented planning. We connect the people, places, and resources that take a project from concept to reality.

**Your Key Responsibilities include:**

  • Preparation and/or analysis of planning-related policy documents, site plans, subdivisions, road closure, and rezoning applications
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Conduct research regarding planning policy, land use, social, and economic topics
  • Provide professional advice regarding planning policy and zoning interpretation and regulatory approvals
  • Communicating with other multidisciplinary team members on relevant aspects of projects
  • Presentation skills to speak to audiences (e.g. the public, business, and municipal Councils)
  • Assisting facilitation of public engagement events
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and other business development activities

**Qualifications**

**Your Capabilities and Credentials:**

  • Membership eligibility with the Canadian Institute of Planners or Alberta Professional Planners Institute
  • Knowledge and experience in community development and urban design leading practices
  • Experience in subdivision design and innovative planning approaches would be an asset
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills, organizational skills, and high attention to detail
  • Strong project management skills and experience of planning theory, practice, and procedures
  • Strong communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and time management skills with the ability to function in a high volume challenging environment
  • Creative problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and other programs such as InDesign are assets

**Education and Experience:**

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Urban Planning
  • Master's degree in Planning is considered an asset
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

**Additional Information:**

  • Position will primarily work in a hybrid office environment
  • Some travel may be required, such as attending meetings or engagement events
  • May occasionally visit study areas, construction sites, and/or be exposed to outside elements and inclement weather conditions
