More action is needed to reduce emissions and manage climate change. At the SEC, we are building an enterprising and dynamic team to accelerate Victoria’s transition to renewables and help achieve Victoria’s renewable energy target of 95% by 2035. We are working together for renewable, affordable reliable energy for all Victorians.

Your role

As a Financial Accountant, you will be assisting with the accounting and financial activities of the SEC. This includes the production of the company’s financial results, month end close, assisting with budgeting and investment decisions and the fulfilment of other obligations such as tax and statutory reporting.

This role can be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in Morwell.

What you will do:

  • Preparation of monthly financial reports covering balance sheet, profit and loss, internal management reports and cashflow statements
  • Managing the general ledger including overseeing the monthly balance sheet, accounts payable, banking, and inter-company reconciliations
  • Preparation of quarterly external reporting for ABS and DTF
  • Assisting with the budgeting and forecasting
  • Assisting in the preparation of year-end statutory accounts
  • Identifying and/or implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Must Have:

Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are:

  • An analytical mind
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships
  • Commercial and business awareness
  • Good communication skills – both written and verbal
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Deadline-orientated and an ability to stick to time constraints

Highly Desirable:

  • An appropriate business, accounting or finance qualification;
  • A professional accounting certification (CA or CPA);
  • Experience working in the energy or related sector/industry.

The energy transformation will create thousands of jobs. The SEC will play a role in attracting and training our future renewable energy workforce, including through the SEC Centre of Training Excellence.
