About the role

BlueWave has a Fall 2024 opening for a Co-op on our Legal Team; the successful candidate will be an important member of a 5-person legal team. This is a full-time position with the option to work remotely on Fridays. As a BlueWave Legal Co-op, you will assist with a broad range of general corporate matters and support real estate development activities for a portfolio of commercial photovoltaic solar and battery energy storage projects. You will engage in matters involving leases, lease options, and easements and be responsible for entity formation and maintenance, reviewing title reports and surveys, and contract management. We seek a highly motivated and creative team member both to support BlueWave's immediate business needs and to help guide us in becoming a best-in-class organization. The successful candidate will be driven to support numerous internal clients with a focus on resolving obstacles to solar development.

What you'll do

  • Manage entity formation and qualification for BlueWave entities, including corporate and special purpose project vehicles
  • Provide support on commercial transactions and closings
  • Support corporate governance efforts, including drafting operating agreements and consents and assisting with corporate policies and procedures
  • Support real estate matters, including leases, lease options, easements, and title issues
  • Answer research questions and draft memorandums to support internal counsel
  • Provide support on new business opportunities, reporting, and compliance matters
  • Track assignments and communicate progress to teams with a focus toward quickly resolving any issues and obstacles
  • Ongoing job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Current 2L or 3L from an ABA accredited law school
  • Demonstrated interest through coursework in renewable energy, real estate, or environmental law
  • Ability to think creatively to help streamline operations and collaborate with members of the legal team
  • Ability to maintain multiple streams of work in an organized and efficient manner
  • Strong writing, research, and communication skills
  • Must enjoy a collaborative and energetic work environment

Compensation will be influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to internal pay equity, job-related knowledge, skills, education, licenses, certifications, essential job duties, and the necessary experience relative to the job's minimum qualifications. The pay range for this role is $25-25 USD per hour.
