About the role

BlueWave is looking for a Director of Solar Development who lives in and has the ability to travel throughout Massachusetts. This is an opportunity to join an established high-performing team that has been leading the market in innovation and high-quality execution for a decade. Strong written and verbal communication skills, a working understanding of the development process, attention to detail, creativity, and thoroughness are essential to success in this position.

What you’ll do

  • Drive projects through the development process and into financing and handoff to construction
  • Conduct negotiations of land leases
  • Manage external consultants responsible for plan sets and designs
  • Oversee project permitting, incentive application, and tax abatement activities
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as grid integration, legal, offtake, engineering, construction, operations, and government affairs
  • Conduct regular site visits throughout the design phase and attend town hearings during permitting
  • Oversee and take responsibility for project budgets and schedules
  • Be or be willing to become knowledgeable in dual-use solar project development
  • Identify crucial developments and trends that affect the viability of the Company’s current and future MA community solar project development pipeline
  • Support project acquisitions
  • Represent the company at regional industry association meetings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; engineering concentration or real estate experience desirable
  • Minimum 5 years of previous experience in energy project development required, preferably in community or distributed generation scale solar projects
  • Solid understanding of the development process of MA State solar projects
  • Ability to deal with local community dynamics as well as negotiate effectively with landowners and other stakeholders
  • Technical understanding of solar projects
  • Excellent project management skills with a highly organized approach
