Job Summary
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. We are looking for mechanical engineers who want to be a part of our team designing and testing remote piloted aircraft.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise a team of avionics test engineers
- Review proposals and estimate future work
- Develop environmental test plans from requirements
- Flow down requirements from the aircraft level to the individual component level
- Manage and coordinate testing ensuring execution to your plan
- Work with the cross-functional team to respond to and recover from any failures that occur
- Report results of testing and recommend design improvements as appropriate
- Juggle more than one test program at a time and track changing schedules and priorities
- Design test fixtures
- Assess environmental compliance of off-the-shelf components
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline
- Progressive engineering experience
- Thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory
- Ability to develop and communicate new concepts
- Strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Some travel may be required
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required
- A Professional Engineering License and original work published in professional engineering journals are desirable
