Job Description

Zoox is looking for an effective and experienced test engineering manager to lead the compute test development team. In this highly visible and cross-functional role, you will help direct the test engineers who develop manufacturing test solutions for cutting-edge computing platforms that power our autonomous robotaxi. You will mentor and develop a team of engineers and technicians to improve our test coverage and be a key driver of our test methodology. This team is responsible for a large variety of products ranging from high-performance server machines, PCIe devices (GPUs, NVMe, custom PCBAs, etc), and custom power supplies. You will guide the development of best practices across test hardware and software (the test programs are written in Python and Shell). Having hands-on experience with both the hardware and software aspects is beneficial.### In this role, you will:

  • Build a high-performance team that can deliver high-quality test solutions at Zoox
  • Navigate competing priorities and establish clear plans for the team to execute
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage with peers, reports, and cross-functional teams
  • Organize the activity of the team across emergent (debug, troubleshooting) and strategic (enhancement) work
  • Use technical skills to drive solutions, and be comfortable with different aspects of technology - bootloaders, firmware, kernels, operating systems, HW buses and protocols, and Python modules to name a few areas
  • Define key deliverables and ensure tasks and goals are completed on time

Qualifications:

  • BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, or equivalent technical degree
  • 10+ years of industry experience or equivalent
  • 5+ years of direct management experience with teams of 5 or more engineers
  • Experience in testing complex electronic assemblies such as server-grade computers and sub-assemblies
  • Experience with manufacturing tests of PCIe devices such as GPUs, network cards, NVMe drives
  • Knowledge of Python and shell (bash) scripting
  • Experience with the Linux platform - debugging, terminal expertise, troubleshooting, etc

Bonus Qualifications

  • MS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, or equivalent technical degree
  • Knowledge of automotive protocols such as CAN and hardware interfaces
  • Experience with Contract Manufacturers and engagement with vendors Compensation There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $177,000 to $294,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position. Zoox also offers a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (e.g. sick leave, vacation, bereavement), unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.
