Job Description

Electric Hydrogen’s mission is to make molecules to decarbonize our world! Our outstanding people are our most important asset and will allow us to deliver hydrogen from renewable electrolysis for heavy industry, at prices below fossil fuels.

We are looking for an EHS Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The EHS Engineer complies with environmental, health and safety regulations and company policies. You will become an important member of our EHS organization working in a collaborative environment while promoting a positive and proactive teamwork environment.

You will lead our safety programs for our pilot plant operation and local facility. You will collaborate with other professionals with our organization to develop the strategy for cradle-to-cradle circular materials usage, and work with the leadership team to ensure Electric Hydrogen's climate-saving systems are deployed to achieve maximum effect.

You will work onsite at our facility in San Jose, CA, and will report to our Manager of Environmental, Health & Safety. Up to 20% travel may be required for this position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily compliance with EHS policies and regulations.
  • Represent, emphasize, and promote our Zero Injury Culture to all employees
  • Manage the hazardous waste inspections
  • Manage the environmental operating permits
  • Oversee weekly safety inspections of the facility and important equipment
  • Conduct task hazard assessments and job safety analyses of new processes and materials
  • Conduct Environmental, Health and Safety compliance audits and tracking audit findings to completion
  • Completing and submitting required regulatory paperwork
  • Manage safety training schedules for several teams and departments. Deliver safety training
  • Communicate and engage with management, EHS leaders, site operations teams, contractors, and vendors
  • Lead investigations into all safety & security incidents and near misses and continuously improve safe operations
  • Lead electrical safety & control of hazardous energy programs

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of applicable Federal and State EHS related regulations and procedures
  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental, safety or health discipline from an accredited institution
  • 3 years of environmental, health or safety experience in a manufacturing/research environment
  • A proven track record of managing safe operations while supporting R&D and manufacturing processes
  • Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
  • Experience with high-risk hazards such as medium & high v

Compensation & Benefits | [San Carlos Zone] EHS Engineer [P3]

San Carlos Zone $119,000—$131,000 USD Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.​

Base salary is just one part of Electric Hydrogen’s total rewards package. We feel strongly that our team should not have to worry about having quality healthcare. In addition to the base salary offered, the hired applicant may receive:​
