Job Description

The Opportunity

As the Director Hardware and Service Products, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the success of our hardware and service offerings. You’ll lead a dynamic team responsible for productizing and managing key components of our portfolio, including Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), Battery Energy Storage, accessories, and our InCharge service offering. Your mission will be to create innovative, customer-centric solutions that meet market demands and drive growth.

Productizing in this case means gathering the VoC, defining requirements, calculating the business case, running RFPs (if necessary; in conjunction with Supply Chain) and manage the launch for a product. This role also will ensure that the hardware and service products are properly integrated into and enhanced by InControl. Additionally, the hardware product team is responsible for maintaining the product roadmap and ensure that In-Charge’s EV charging hardware portfolio fulfills the customer needs and stays on a cutting-edge level. This means that specifications for EVSE are developed to meet [future] market needs and that these EVSE are delivered accordingly. Additionally, the EVSE functions need to be translated into business relevant language and documentation to ensure that sales and operations can scale the product in the market. The launch activities for all prodcuts needs to be supported working with Marketing, Sales, Operations and Supply Chain. The product validation efforts by the Engineering Team need to be supported and the outcomes are expected to be relayed back to the respective supplier to implement the changes.

The Director of Hardware and Service Products reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer.

What You’ll Do

  • Define product use cases and analyze the requirements to meet such use cases.
  • Calculate business cases.
  • Support Go/No Go – Decision points based on functional and commercial evaluation criteria.
  • Manage the product requirements throughout the product and project lifecycles and ensure cohesive EV Charging Solutions are built within InCharge.
  • Support ongoing and new initiatives including functional documentation of existing applications, contributing to the development of functional requirements for new applications and enhancements and participating in activities throughout the project life cycle.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal team members.
  • Collaborate with business partners to develop product strategy and drive project initiatives.
  • Plan, organize, and monitor requirements specification.
  • Work with Engineering Team (Hardware Development team and Software Development team) & Software Product Managers, to implement the solutions and perform system testing and data validations.
  • Collaborate with:
    • The SW-Product Management Team and the Product Engineering Team on developing new features and functions and products setting up test cases and documentation needs.
    • The operations and sales team to gather VoC, requirements and provide training and product documentation.
  • Report on and Escalate:
    • Weekly progress and status of product development and product launch initiatives
    • Technical issues, process hurdles and inefficiencies with exact description and improvement recommendations

Your Experience and Capabilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in hardware product management and related fields (R&D, technical Business Development) preferably in the energy or clean tech industry.
  • Strong understanding of EVSE, Battery Energy Storage, and related technologies.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and guide cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A passion for quality and ensuring that world-class products are delivered according to the customer’s requirements.
  • Experience in bringing technology products to market in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable person with a strong service orientation and “do what it takes” attitude.

US Salary Range $140,000—$160,000 USD What We Offer
