This position requires an individual who demonstrates a passion for high-performance building enclosures, ranging from design to testing and validation of performance. Our projects are typically buildings in the education (K-12 and higher education), healthcare, commercial, and industrial building sectors. The ideal candidate that is not only skilled at finding issues, but also in helping teams find great solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Support design teams to identify and develop concepts for high-performance enclosures that help projects achieve energy, durability, and indoor environmental quality goals.
- Provide support on projects pursuing Passive House Certification.
- Lead the building enclosure commissioning process for commercial and institutional projects that are implementing envelope testing procedures (pressurization testing, thermography, spray testing, etc.)
- Perform on site reviews and observations to validate enclosure quality, identify issues, and engage in resolutions.
- Participate and present in client meetings related to the subject matter.
- Identify and track building enclosure issues during design, construction, and occupancy phase.
- Establish and document enclosure performance targets with project teams.
- Review design documents for assembly performance, transition details and constructability.
- Validate that submittals and mock-ups are aligned with performance targets.
- Observe completed enclosure and enclosure testing.
- Conduct analysis and optimization of enclosures using common industry tools including WUFI, THERM, and PHPP.
Qualified candidates ideally possess
- Bachelor’s or higher in a field related to environmental building design (architecture, engineering, and/or building science)
- 3+ years professional experience in AEC industry
- Demonstrated skills in computer and hand sketching
- Proficiency in CAD/REVIT tools
- Proficiency in written and spoken English, and good verbal, interpersonal and writing skills
- Proven track record of trouble shooting Enclosure issues
- Technical competence in reading and interpreting specifications and plans
