Job Description

BeZero is poised to extend its sophisticated carbon risk assessment framework to new areas in Beyond Carbon, including environmental and social safeguards and co-benefits. Carbon market actors are increasingly asking for more intel and diligence around how carbon projects are contributing to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and providing co-benefits such as biodiversity. Similarly, they are asking what safeguards carbon projects are employing to mitigate risks of social and environmental harm. BeZero has already launched some Beyond Carbon features in its ratings and on the BeZero Carbon Marketplace, and over the next year, we will be significantly increasing our offering. We are looking for an experienced subject matter expert in sustainable development to lead our Beyond Carbon workstream from research through execution.

**Job responsibilities include:**

• Lead ongoing safeguard and sustainable development ratings and research.
• Develop a comprehensive Beyond Carbon strategy for sustainable development, safeguards, and biodiversity ratings offerings for the carbon market 2.0.
• Lead cross-department initiatives between Ratings, Product, and Marketing.
• Manage a small team of analysts to deliver ratings and research on sustainable development attributes of carbon credit projects around the world.
• Partner with scientists from Ratings and Geo teams to design and deploy risk assessments on non-carbon benefits and impacts of carbon projects.
• Be BeZero Carbon's lead subject matter expert on sustainable development.
• Represent BeZero Carbon at important industry events and interface with clients and prospects.

**You will be our ideal candidate if you have:**

• Graduate degree in sustainable development, social science, or relevant carbon market topic.
• 5-10 years working in carbon markets and/or evaluation of sustainable development projects.
• Experience managing a team.
