Job Description

Senior Marine Project Manager

**Location:** GB **Division:** Viking Link Construction **Job Type:** Requisition Number 54778 **Department:** National Grid Ventures **Job Function:** Sales and Commercial

About the Role:

Join us and manage innovative marine infrastructure projects. As we build a cleaner, greener energy system, we're looking for a Senior Marine Project Manager to help deliver marine infrastructure projects for National Grid Ventures. The North Sea offers an incredible opportunity for the UK and our European neighbors to deliver huge increases in offshore wind. The creation of an integrated North Sea grid will help to take advantage of the rapid growth in offshore wind and strengthen cross-border interconnector links. You'll be entering a very niche dynamic environment at the heart of the energy transition. As a Senior Marine Project Manager, you'll fully integrate, optimize, and manage an allocated program of work across the full project lifecycle. You'll operate to the highest Safety, Health, and Environmental Quality standards to help define marine ways of working and promote positive marine working environments. The size of these projects means you'll have the time and budget to utilize innovative new technologies. For example, you might look into how advancements in subsea technologies can create efficiencies or minimize environmental impact. In this role, you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. You'll be flexible to traveling to our office Warwick and Interconnector sites in the UK and Europe as required.

What You'll Do:

  • **Project schedules:** Liaising with our consents teams, stakeholders, and contractors, you'll look at constraints and manage the overall marine works schedule. Monitor the impact of marine resource availability, weather, and environmental factors on project timelines.
  • **Marine works budget:** Control the marine works costs and monitor the impact of delays, managing internal implications, and knock-on effects across the portfolio. Liaising with internal and joint venture finance teams, you'll contribute to your projects' finance processes, ensuring they remain within governance and the wider program of works budget.
  • **SHEQ:** You will be key to the marine works SHEQ management, communicating in a clear, timely way to ensure safe systems of work and a positive end result. Promote offshore wellbeing, ensuring contractors have good processes and understanding of marine working environments.
  • **Project governance:** Acting as the marine lead, you'll contribute to any project governance requirements. For example, when an EPC contractor is chosen, you will provide the justification and take the marine lead during internal National Grid regulatory processes and governance. During the interaction with stakeholders, such as other seabed users, you'll liaise with our legal and external affairs teams to coordinate responses.
  • **Project engineering:** During the project development phase, you'll manage the overall marine engineering process, including coordinating marine inputs, studies, and consultant works. Coordinate desktop studies, marine surveys, and post-survey engineering. During the EPC tender process, you'll review tenders and project execution plans and coordinate subject matter expert input. During the delivery phase, you'll work closely with the EPC contractor to plan and execute the marine cable installation and associated works.

About You:

What we do isn't just important, it's essential. That's why we look to recruit experts in their field. In this case, we're looking for someone who is pragmatic, hard-working, and a great communicator who can get along with a wide variety of people. You'll know how to bring people out of their shell and encourage them to share their opinions. In the past, you've had exposure to the marine environment. You'll be spending a lot of your time talking to people working offshore; it's crucial that you can understand and empathize with their environment and concerns. You'll have already managed marine infrastructure projects and ideally subsea cables. But we're also interested in hearing from you if you have experience in areas such as oil and gas, subsea telecoms, or coastal infrastructure.

Don't meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At National Grid Interconnectors, we are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace for everyone. So if you're excited about this role but your experience or qualifications don't match the job description exactly, we encourage you to apply.
