About the Role

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is a key player in the UK's energy sector. The electricity network we provide powers the nation, from workplaces to schools, bringing energy to life. As the Network Design Manager, you will lead the largest network upgrade program in Great Britain in a generation. Your role will involve shaping the future network design to create a clean, fair, and affordable transmission network for England and Wales.

Responsibilities:

  • Define the direction and vision of the future network design.
  • Engage with industry and stakeholders to align plans for the network's development.
  • Maintain and enhance NGET's profile in developing whole system solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance network capability using innovative strategies and technologies.
  • Ensure network reliability and resilience through rigorous oversight of existing practices and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Experience in leading major projects or programs.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical subjects clearly to various audiences.
  • Commercial acumen and understanding of regulatory and financial environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of high-voltage electricity networks and project development.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of decision-making in complex environments.
  • Degree in a STEM subject and chartered engineering status.
