Job Description

**Position Overview:**Solid Power is seeking a Manager of Process Engineering to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‐paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. This position is a key role in the engineering group, and critical in helping transition solid power technology to market. The main responsibilities include leading a team to develop and mature the electrode slurry processing, coating, and electrode processing techniques. The candidate will also be responsible for managing pilot line cell production, in conjunction with the operations team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality development cells to our customers, both internal and external. The preferrable candidate will have experience in the development of lithium-ion batteries and strong statistical analysis experience. The candidate will be responsible for transitioning new technologies from the pre-pilot line to the pilot line, as well as leading the development of repeatable and robust techniques that can be transferred to scaled production.

Job Duties:* Work closely with Technology Integration Manager, Operations Manager, and the Senior Manager of Operations and Control Systems for development, planning, and execution of technology pathway and cell deliverables.

  • Lead five process engineers and one engineer technician, as part of cross functional team including pilot line engineers and operations, pre-pilot line operations, advanced manufacturing engineering, and operations and controls.
  • Daily execution of work required and responsible for gathering, consolidating, and reporting out data and lessons learned to the internal organization, including members of the executive leadership team.
  • Responsible for initial capital planning and operational expense planning, providing input to the Director of Operations Engineering.
  • With the culture of a start-up, this role will grow and evolve as the business changes.

Qualifications/Requirements:* Bachelor’s degree or higher preferably in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or civil engineering from an accredited university to include 10 years relevant experience, 5 years leadership experience. In the absence of a degree, 15+ years of relevant experience to include 10+ years leadership experience is required.

  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Familiarity with high hazard chemical processes, safety mitigation strategies and regulations, and environmental considerations.
  • Proven ability to lead data driven decision making and establishing credibility with cross-functional leaders and executive leaders in the organization.
  • Strong communication skills, analytical skills required with lean six sigma/TPM/continuous improvement methodology preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
  • Team builder that thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite required, proficiency in SAP preferred.

Physical Requirements:* Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.

  • Ability to lift 50lbs as needed.
  • Ability to work in a dry room environment to support engineers and operators as required.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator or PAPR.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Salary Range: $110,000 - $150,000/annually
