Job Purpose

Great Britain's electricity system is undergoing an ambitious, exciting, and vital transformation. Together with industry, we are creating a cleaner, greener system, one that protects the planet and serves generations to come. As part of a dynamic and forward-looking regulatory policy team, the Regulatory Policy Analyst plays an important role in monitoring and tracking regulatory developments that impact the ESO. This role involves drafting coherent, considered, and evidence-based responses aligned with the ESO strategy and policy position.

This role can be based in Warwick, Wokingham, or Glasgow, and we offer hybrid working options. Full-time, part-time, and flexible working arrangements are available.

About us

As Great Britain's electricity system operator (ESO), we balance electricity supply and demand, ensuring the electricity flows directly to where it's needed second by second. In Summer of 2024, the ESO will transition to becoming the National Energy System Operator (NESO), responsible for planning Great Britain's electricity and gas networks and operating the electricity system.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for horizon scanning for regulatory developments
  • Apply knowledge of regulatory framework to develop responses
  • Act as a subject matter expert for regulatory policy development
  • Be a point of contact on the ESO license and respond to queries
  • Contribute to regulatory reporting obligations
  • Represent the ESO in regulatory policy discussions and negotiations
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders
  • Support delivery of projects and ad hoc requests

  • Good awareness or understanding of energy utility regulatory environment, policy, and frameworks
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively
